EVP Workshop

«First an assessment of the study location and of possible sound issues; noise control and noise use, including the researchers' impact on their sonic environment. After an hour, some instructions on how to download the data properly, with a special focus on sound level, shape, and waveform. Segregation of noise (street noises, magnetic faults) from signal (sounds and voices). Analysis of vocal elements, extraction with noise reduction. Electronic voice phenomena and recorded sounds will then provide the basis for a sonic work, which will document the study and constitute an experimental piece of approximately 6 minutes.»

Recording equipment: the idea is that people bring their own recording devices, no matter the device or its quality (cell-phone, walkman, pro-field recorder, ...)
