It is of common belief that weird the sands of Namibia's desert hide various creatures. One of these might even be behind a series of unsolved murders that occurred in the southern part of the county, at a time when Richard Stanley was still a young boy.

Fascinated by these stories, the young author used it as material for producing a simple but efficient low budget movie that he started shooting only ten years later. As the shooting went on, the project became the victim of a series of nerve-racking incidents, starting with the disappearance of vehicles swallowed by the sand, followed by the bankruptcy of the producer and the recovery of the entire filming material by the American producer Miramax who edited the movie after cutting off twenty minutes of it suppressing all of its mystic dimension in order to achieve a more traditional movie. Ironically, this did not prevent the movie from getting praised by the admirers of the Fantastic style. After managing to recover the rolls of his film, Richard Stanley issued a new version at his own costs called «The Final Cut», which is the version that will be screened at LUFF.
